Eat Right – Play Hard!
| "Eat Right - Play Hard," was the theme of a nutrition assembly held at Side Creek Elementary on Thursday Afternoon, August 26th. The assembly focused on student's proper eating habits. Guests included Lisa Hidalgo from Channel 7, and mascots "Power Panther" (Mr. Abdale) and Edsen, the Mascot of the Colorado Rapids Soccer Team. | |
| The assembly was created by the Aurora Public Schools Nutrition Services and will be seen in every elementary school in the district. The assembly was created to inform students and parents of the new and better menu offerings in school cafeterias. |

Welcome Back!
I hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer. We are back in full swing with all of the students settled into their classes and learning about the routines and expectations for their classroom teachers. Read the rest of this entry »
Field Day This Fall!
This year's field day will be held this fall on Friday, September 17th. Field days at Side Creek are usually held in the spring near the end of the school year. Because of the construction calendar, school ends late in April so it was decided to hold the field day this fall.
The field day is looking for parent volunteers. The field day flyer can be viewed and copied by clicking on the link below. The field day schedule of events will remain the same. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders will have there events in the morning and the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will have their events in the afternoon. If weather on the 17th is poor, the makeup day will be on Friday, September 24th.
First PTO Meeting
The first meeting of the Side Creek PTO will be on Thursday evening, August 12th beginning at 6 p.m. Meetings will be held monthly in Mobile A-1. Side Creek Parents are encouraged to attend as fundraisers are discussed and planned for the upcoming school year.
A pot luck dinner will be held at the first meeting. The PTO Officers hope to see you there and share any ideas that you have to continue to make Side Creek a great elementary school.
Side Creek Schedule 2010-11
Side Creek Elementary will be on a special construction schedule for the 2010-11 school year. On a construction schedule, students attend fewer days but the days are longer than in a regular school year. Side Creek students will have the same contact time in classes as students on a regular schedule. Side Creek Students will attend school from August 4th through April 28th. Students will be attending school on a longer day, from 8:25 a.m. until 3:25 p.m.
Side Creek is on a construction schedule because a new air conditioning system will be installed in the school in the Spring of 2011. There will be plenty of time for installation of the new air conditioning system since students complete the year early.
