Happy 106th Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

March 2 is the birthdate of Dr. Seuss and every year on that date, Side Creek invites people from the community to read Dr. Seuss to its students.  This year guest readers included:  Dr. Zelda de Boyes, Aurora Court Administrator; Chad Berger, (at right) Aurora Police Officer; Matthew Wollbrinck, APS Custodial Director; and several parents of  Side Creek students.  Guest readers came to the school during morning and afternoon reading sessions.  Over three hundred students were read to throughout the day.  The reading activity was organized by Mrs. Noora Snelling of the Side Creek Media Center.

Readers Become Leaders

February 10th was "Readers Become Leaders Day".  The school invites prominent persons from the community to read to Side Creek students.  This year among the persons invited were APS Assistant Superintendent William Stuart (pictured at the right), APS School Board Member Mary Lewis and Arapahoe County Commissioner Pat Noonan.

"Readers Become Leaders" day is a community project sponsored yearly by the Side Creek Media Center.  Mrs. Noora Snelling, media circulation specialist, coordinated the project.   The project encourages the importance of reading in everyday life and that truly:  "Readers Become Leaders".
