Side Creek Honors our Veterans!

For the third year in a row, Side Creek choir students proudly celebrated Veteran's Day by performing for veterans and their families at the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum at the Lowery Complex in Denver.  Over 100 students and their director, Mrs. Peggy Hassan, sang selections to a "military" audience in an airplane hangar.  Pictured on the right is Mrs. Hassan and the choir being thanked by Colorado Governor, Bill Ritter. Mrs. Peggy Hassan is the music teacher at Side Creek Elementary.                                  (Click on picture to enlarge)

Carnival Night Plays Well!

ring-toss.jpg  A very special THANK YOU! goes out to the many, many parents, teachers, staff, and community volunteers who made the carnival possible.  It was a fun evening had by everyone and would not have been possible without you.  Carnival night was held on Thursday night, October 23rd from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Side Creek PTO was able to raise over $1,200 towards the new sign and continued curriculum support for Side Creek Elementary.

You can do it – Pioneer P.R.I.D.E.

On Friday, August 16th, the first group of twenty-five P.R.I.D.E winners were awarded a popcorn party for displaying one of the five attributes of the PRIDE program.  PRIDE stands for Problem Solving, Responsibility, Integrity, Dedication and Eager to Learn.  During the week, teachers award 25 students buttons for displaying one of the five attributes and then students are awarded a popcorn party every Friday. One hundred Side Creek Students willl have their picture taken and displayed each month.  This is the first year of the new program.  The program encourages positive behavior in the hallways, playground, cafeteria and before and after the school bell.  pioneer-pride.JPG
